Introduction - What is Enhanced Access?

From 1st October 2022, GP practices will be providing increased provision of primary care services (enhanced access arrangements) between the hours of 6.30pm and 8.00pm Mondays to Fridays and between 9.00am and 5.00pm on Saturdays. Our building will be hosing this service. If you prefer to be seen in the evenings or weekends please contact the surgery as normal and book an appointment.

We have a number of different clinicians working with us, GPs, GP Trainees, Practice Nurse, Nurse Associate, Health Improvement Practitioner, Pharmacists, Mental Health Practitioner, TAPP, Paramedics & MSK Practitioner - to help us book you in to see the correct person - Reception will be asking you for your name/dob/tele no & what your appointment is regarding, this is to ensure that 1) you are one of our patients and 2) that you are booked with the correct person which will give them time to prepare for your appointment. You also have the option of either a face to face or telephone appointment.

We are taking on NEW patients, if you are in our practice are and would like to register, please pop into the surgery for more details, we are on the right as you come through the door!

Repeat Prescriptions

green_pill_spill

From Monday 3 August 2020 we will no longer accept requests over the phone, unless by prior arrangement.

If you take medication on a long-term basis, you can re-order your medication in one of three ways.

  1. Order through your nominated Pharmacy.

  2. Register for Online Services, see our Online Services tab or click Online Consult on the home page. If you have any problems registering, please contact the surgery who will happy to help you set it up.

  3. Send your re-order slip to us in an envelope, and if you wish us to return it to you rather than you collecting it, please enclose a stamped, addressed envelope. Please allow one week before you run out of your medication to enable us to process and return it to you without you running out of medicine. Please also allow for Bank Holidays.

As a general rule, we cannot take requests for medication over the telephone, however, exceptions are made for the housebound and frail, elderly patients.

Your local pharmacy will usually run a collection service. They will sometimes order your medicine as well as collect it for you. You will need to contact a chemist of your choice to begin this service.

We would ask you always to give us two clear working days’ notice to process your prescription as this means the necessary checks and administration can be carried out correctly.

Occasionally you will have a note on your prescription asking you re-order your medicine slightly earlier than usual so the doctor can check out the items you have requested. This is so the doctor can confirm that you are still receiving the best and most suitable treatment for your condition.

Electronic Prescribing

The NHS is introducing the Electronic Prescription Service. This could make collecting prescriptions easier and more convenient for you.

This service gives you the option to 'nominate' the place you choose to get your medication or appliance from so that they can receive your prescriptions electronically. This could save you a trip to your GP practice just to collect a prescription form - particularly if you have regular prescriptions.

Different GP practices, pharmacies and dispensing appliance contractors will start using the service at different times. Ask a member of staff for more information or visit http://systems.hscic.gov.uk/eps

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see our Practice Pharmacist, Doctor or Practice Nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip.

Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
