Repeat Prescriptions
From Monday 3 August 2020 we will no longer accept requests over the phone, unless by prior arrangement.
If you take medication on a long-term basis, you can re-order your medication in one of three ways.
Order through your nominated Pharmacy.
Register for Online Services, see our Online Services tab or click Online Consult on the home page. If you have any problems registering, please contact the surgery who will happy to help you set it up.
Send your re-order slip to us in an envelope, and if you wish us to return it to you rather than you collecting it, please enclose a stamped, addressed envelope. Please allow one week before you run out of your medication to enable us to process and return it to you without you running out of medicine. Please also allow for Bank Holidays.
As a general rule, we cannot take requests for medication over the telephone, however, exceptions are made for the housebound and frail, elderly patients.
Your local pharmacy will usually run a collection service. They will sometimes order your medicine as well as collect it for you. You will need to contact a chemist of your choice to begin this service.
We would ask you always to give us two clear working days’ notice to process your prescription as this means the necessary checks and administration can be carried out correctly.
Occasionally you will have a note on your prescription asking you re-order your medicine slightly earlier than usual so the doctor can check out the items you have requested. This is so the doctor can confirm that you are still receiving the best and most suitable treatment for your condition.
Electronic Prescribing
The NHS is introducing the Electronic Prescription Service. This could make collecting prescriptions easier and more convenient for you.
This service gives you the option to 'nominate' the place you choose to get your medication or appliance from so that they can receive your prescriptions electronically. This could save you a trip to your GP practice just to collect a prescription form - particularly if you have regular prescriptions.
Different GP practices, pharmacies and dispensing appliance contractors will start using the service at different times. Ask a member of staff for more information or visit http://systems.hscic.gov.uk/eps
Medication Reviews
Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see our Practice Pharmacist, Doctor or Practice Nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip.
Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
